Neighborhood Watch

Know Your Neighbors!!!!

The purpose of this program is to deter crime by letting criminals know that we are watching out for each other. IT WORKS! In neighborhoods that actively employ a "Watch" crime is reduced. Remember, this is a communications network -- it only works if you call.

If you are a victim of a crime, or note some suspicious activity, call the police at once! Identify yourself and report details.

Emergency 911
North Precinct  (404) 297-3950
Non-Emergency, DeKalb (404) 294-2911

Call your block captain so we can spread the word through the neighborhood!  If you don't know your block captain, call Lisa Dierks-Unkefer at 770-451-5756 and she will get you the number.  Lisa can also be reached at neighborhoodwatch@dunwoodynorth.org

If you receive a call that starts, "This is a Dekalb Police Bulletin", DO NOT HANG-UP.  It is important information!  This is a reverse 911 call from the police department, calling to let you know of important information.  If you are unlisted or removed from the soliciting database, you must call Al Fowler at 404-294-2858 to assure that you will receive future reverse 911 calls.

Home Security Survey - The Crime Awareness Officer for North DeKalb Precinct, Al Fowler at (404) 294-2858 will gladly arrange a free home security survey to identify any areas (such as locks, doors, windows, lighting, shrubbery, etc.) that may need security improvements. Her standard security statement to us is still, "Always report anything suspicious, that is anything out of the ordinary, to 911 immediately."

Alarm Systems - PLEASE operate your alarm system with care to avoid setting off a false alarm: make sure you are thoroughly familiar with the operation of your system; that you keep it properly maintained; that you secure all your windows and doors when you leave; and that you insure that your pets cannot activate the system. The police receive hundreds of false alarms for every valid call reported. Let’s make sure every call they receive from the Dunwoody North Community is valid. Remember, you are the key to the security of our community.
